Minutes January 18, 2012 Meeting was called to order by President Dave White at 6:30 PM at the Gates Fire Station. Introductions of those in attendance were given. Minutes of previous meeting and treasures report were read and approved. A motion to donate 25 dollars to the fire department was made by John Elden and seconded by Dean Odonnell FOREST SERVICE: Report on the Piety Island project was given by Brady. Lots of dirt was moved about. When started the weather worked in our favor. The island created was a bit more work to do in the shaping of the rocks and trees .A big thank you to the 1249th company of the Oregon National Guard. This is a project that has been on our docket for 7 years with 7 Federal Agencies in- evolved with the project. The new channel level is now 1539. That is 8 feet lower. The marine patrol will place new buoys to mark the channel. A special award of appreciation was presented to the 1249th company for their outstanding efforts on this special project. Oregon Marine board is going to expand the boat dock at Cove Creek Detroit Lake Restoration and Enhancement Study are now posted on the FLRCDL web site. The next step is getting funding funds to do further studies on the project. CORP OF ENGINEERS: Work needs to be done on the water line in the park and paving of the driveway, improving parking at North Santiam Park. Two rangers are needed this year in the park. Applications will be accepted. Lake water level went below the normal winter level of 1450' and that caused the winter ramp to be closed to boating till the water levels came back to. Need to post changes to the water level on the park site and the ODFW site so boaters can be aware if the ramps are closed. OREGON MARINE BOARD: Grants for projects must be in by February 1st. PROJECT STATUS: Piety Island project needs some additional work when weather permits. Draft under marinas being worked on. McCoy creek ATV parking lot completed. HARMFUL SPECIES AND NOXIOUS AQUATIC WEEDS ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM FOR OREGON Presentation given by Glen Dolphin. Presentation is presented in full on the web site. Next meeting scheduled for April 18th at Detroit Ranger station at 6:30 PM Meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM No one present but sent a note about low levels and hoping for more rain. Work to continue on Big Cliff gates this year. No time line as of now. Minto fish hatchery project is a work in progress and is on schedule. Detroit dam road will be closed Feb. 13th to the 17th to remove fish research equipment.
